Horses are considered majestic creatures in almost every culture. Their beauty and elegance has always inspired forms of art. The arabesque design used in this wood art piece dates to the 11th century in Fatimid Egypt. The inspiration for our design comes from an originally carved piece of wood which was once used as a door panel and for which craftsmen in medieval Fatimid Egypt were extremely famous for producing. We have burned that design onto this piece of basswood and applied an antique gold and painted finish to the design to give it more depth and wonder. We have tried, as we do in all our products, to bring back some of the elegance of those medieval craftsmen long ago.
