William De Morgan was a famous British and Victorian era mathematician who lived at the end of the 19th century. During his lifetime, he found a passion for the arts and became a highly skilled artist and mastered ceramics. He was particularly drawn to Middle-eastern and Islamic lustreware, drawing upon Hispano-moresque and Italian Maiolica styles in his work. He was also a famed for his artistic reproductions of peacocks. The woodburned tray here is a reinterpretation of one of William De Morgan's tile lustreware featuring a rich Persianate and European floral arabesque and peacock design as envisioned by William. It is one of the most gorgeous pieces we have made and it will make a perfect holiday gift, or decorative addition to your home or office. It is one-of-a-kind so if you love it, do not let it go. Technique: pyrography; Material: Basswood; Finish: Specialty patina paint and metallic gold accents; glaze (side bark); Polyurethane; Handles: Vintage Brass.Note: The picture featured in the listing here is a previously sold version of this tray.
